The fate of this property has been the focus of considerable public process.
Jefferson County Comprehensive Parks PlanResolution No 50-95 Adopted June 19, 1995 to 6/2001 lists acquisition of the mouth of Chimacum Creek.
This area (Irondale area of the Tri Area) has the highest platted density in the region, and some of the densest build-out, as well. The population of the area is currently over 4,500 people and is growing rapidly.
The County is considering designating the area as a UGA to allow it accept more of Jefferson County’s share of required GMA population increases and a valid petition for incorporation has been filed.
A new K-2 Elementary School is under construction this year to address the rapidly increasing population.
Park would have been targeted for purchase and included in adopted CFP, but it was not expected to become available at this time.
